Physiotherapy services have been introduced at Kaafu Maafushi Hospital.
The service was inaugurated yesterday by Health Ministry's State Minister Ahmed Gasim at a ceremony held at the hospital.
Maafushi Hospital said the launch of physiotherapy services will make it easier for residents of the island to access treatment locally.
The Maafushi Island Council and the Women’s Development Committee also expressed appreciation to the Health Ministry for introducing the service.
While specialist doctors are now available in many island health centres, physiotherapy services remain limited in several islands across the Maldives.
The Maafushi health facility, which serves a large number of patients, was upgraded from a health centre to a hospital in 2023.
