Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) has awarded a contract to develop a modern yacht marina in Haa Alifu Uligan.
The contract has been awarded to SAS e Construction Pvt Ltd.
The agreement was signed at a ceremony held at MPL’s head office, with MPL Deputy CEO Ali Hashim signing on behalf of the company and Managing Director Abdullah Sawad signing for SAS e Construction.
Under the first phase of the project, the contractor will develop a marina capable of accommodating 18 yachts at a time.
The facility will also provide basic services for yachts, including immigration and customs services.
MPL is operating the yacht marina and is also seeking a contractor to further develop the facility in later stages.
Uligan, located at the northern tip of Maldives, is a common entry point for yachts arriving from abroad.
The government aims to develop the marina as a key economic activity for the island, expanding services for international yachts and generating economic benefits for the area.
