Maldives Industrial Fisheries Company (MIFCO) has increased the price of fuel sold to fishermen following rising global fuel prices linked to the conflict in the Middle East.
In a statement issued today, MIFCO said diesel will now be sold to fishermen at MVR 27.24 per litre, while the price for the general public has been set at MVR 28.54 per litre.
Meanwhile, State Trading Organization (STO) has also raised the price of diesel and petrol supplied to businesses.
As a result, the cost of speedboat transport services has also seen a rise in prices.
Global fuel and oil prices have been rising amid the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, and further increases are expected if the situation continues, MIFCO said.
