Yesterday, the foundation stone has been laid to inaugurate the commencement of the project to build a hospital in R. Meedhoo.
In a special ceremony held in Meedhoo yesterday, the foundation stone for the hospital was laid by Health Minister Abdulla Nazim Ibrahim, Road Development Corporation (RDC) Managing Director Ibrahim Nazeem and MP for Maduvvari constituency Ahmed Zahir.
The Meedhoo Hospital project was first announced during the previous administration. During the final days of that administration, the announcement seeking a contractor for the project was recalled, and the project was handed over to RDC for MVR 135 million, to be completed within 500 days.
However, no work was done under the project at the time when that administration left office.
Last year, the current government signed an agreement with RDC to develop a hospital in Meedhoo.
Nearly an year after this agreement was signed, the foundation stone for the project was laid yesterday. However, no further details regarding the project have been disclosed so far.
