Maldives Zakat House stated today that more than MVR 15 million was received in Fitr Zakat this year, with MVR 500,000 having been donated as food aid to those who are in need in Gaza.
The institution said that they received a total of MVR 15,009,749. This is a 10.6 percent increase from last year in Fitr Zakat.
The Zakat House also said that they donated MVR 500,000 to the ISRA Association last night in order to provide aid in the form of food and drink to those in Gaza.
As per the Zakat House, they also gave MVR 423,749 last night as aid to the Ministry of Social and Family Development's trust fund in order to help those who are in need in Maldives.
This year, MVR 6,000 was given to each of the poor and needy as Fitr Zakat in Maldives. A total of MVR 13,896,000 was given to the poor and needy.
This is the most that has been received in Fitr Zakat per head for equal distribution in Maldives. Of those who received Fitr Zakat, 62 of them were poor and orphaned children.
