The police have said that Chairman of the Raymond Group and billionaire Gautam Singhania was a passenger on the speedboat that capsized near Vaavu atoll Felidhoo on Thursday night.
Two Indian nationals had gone missing in the incident that occurred about two nautical miles southwest of Keyodhoo, with an ongoing search being conducted. Seven people were on the speedboat, consisting of five Indian men, a woman from the United Kingdom and a Russian woman.
Five people were thrown overboard when the speedboat lost control and capsized.
According to the police, Gautam was one of the injured individuals from the incident. The police also said that after he was treated for his injuries, he had been discharged after being declared he was in good health.
However, no details of his injury were shared. His translator told Indian newspapers that he had suffered minor injuries only.
The speedboat that had capsized was used to board 60 year old Gautam Singhania's luxury yacht the TT Ashena. Sources have stated that Gautam is currently in Mumbai.
Gautam is known to travel to Maldives for vacation.
MNDF is still currently searching for the other two people who were traveling with Gautam on the speedboat. Sources have also said that the speedboat capsized while it was traveling at a high speed.
