It has been decided to open the opportunity for people with disabilities to submit separate applications for the government's housing project starting April.

In an announcement made by the Ministry of Housing, it stated that the date to open applications through the portal for flats under the "Category for Persons with Disabilities", which is given special priority under this government’s family housing policy, has now been delayed to 11:00 AM on the first day of April.

It was previously decided to open the application process for this category starting tomorrow.

In the "Regulation for Issuing Flats to Residents Living in Malé" previously published by the Housing Ministry, a specific category was dedicated to people with disabilities. However, according to the regulation at that time, one only had to tick a box in the section for disabilities.

However, in the amendment brought to the regulation by the Ministry last month, the period considered for housing eligibility has been shortened for people with disabilities.

The general eligibility requirement set by the government for providing housing this time is to have resided continuously in the Malé area for 15 years. However, with the change brought to the regulation, people with disabilities who have resided continuously in Malé for five years will be able to apply.

In addition, those who have to travel to Malé to seek services for their disability and those who have moved to Malé to seek such services will also be able to submit forms.
