The most important session on the agenda of the Football Association of Maldives (FAM)'s extraordinary congress scheduled for tomorrow will be held in secrecy from the media.

Tomorrow's congress will be held to form committees that have not been formed for four years.

FAM, notorious for keeping things private, said in a brief statement that the press will be allowed to stay in the hall where the congress is held until the end of FAM President Bassam Adeel Jaleel's address.

According to item 7 of the agenda sent to the FAM member clubs, members will be appointed to the Disciplinary Committee and Appeals Committees. Item 8 of the agenda includes the appointment of members to the Electoral Committee and the Electoral Appeals Committee. These are the most important items on the agenda. However, these sessions will not be made public.

However, FAM said in a statement that it would provide information to the press about the proceedings of the congress.

The congress, which was previously scheduled to be held online, will now be held at Champa Central Hotel at 09:00 hrs on Thursday. The congress is scheduled to be held as a physical meeting at the request of the clubs.

"The decision to hold the congress online was reviewed by the association's Executive Committee at the request of many clubs," FAM said in a statement.

The issue of committees not being formed in four years recently came to light after Ahmed Thorig (Tom) filed an appeal with the FAM against the rejection of his candidacy in the associations' election, earlier scheduled for last Wednesday. In addition to the Appeals Committee, the Ethics Committee and the Disciplinary Committee have not been established.

However, while the Electoral Committee had already been formed, the decision to reconstitute the committee was made after the resignation of its Chairperson Ahmed Ahmeem. He resigned amid election-related conflicts.
