With the new constitution passed in Football Association of Maldives (FAM) congress today, New Radiant and Victory have once again gained membership.
The two clubs have received the opportunity of association membership as the new constitution has increased the number of clubs from their division which can serve as members.
First Division clubs previously had 8 members. With this number now raised to 10, both Victory and Odi Sports Club will gain membership.
The Second Division, in which New Radiant falls, has now been increased from 10 to 13 members. With this, all existing Second Division clubs will receive the opportunity to vote in FAM Congress.
New Radiant and Victory have received the chance of representation in FAM congress after a six year gap.
The last time New Radiant voted in FAM Congress was in 2018. Victory received the chance in 2019.
New Radiation was suspended from FAM in December 2018 following the club's initiative to submit a no confidence motion against then FAM President Bassam Adeel Jaleel.
The no confidence motion was then submitted by Victory, who were subsequently suspended in December, 2019. Both were suspended citing salary issues.
The suspensions were lifted in 2022 after the salary issues were resolved. However, the clubs were unable to represent themselves in FAM congress until now.
