Ahmed Thoriq (Tom), who is in the running for the FAM Presidency has nominated New Radiant Senior Vice Chairman Ali Ibrahim (Kappi), Mujuthaba Ali (Mujey) and Maziya Vice Chairman Hussein Shafiu (Kokky) as his deputies.

Due to all 23 FAM clubs backing Tom in the 26th July 2025 election, no other candidate will get the opportunity to run for FAM President. Under new constitutional guidelines, candidates may only run after garnering support from at least five clubs.

And so Tom, the famous Forward for the Maldives National Football Team, has essentially won the seat, while also having taken FAM Presidency in the past.

Amongst the three candidates he nominated as deputies, he nominated current People's Majlis member Kappi as a senior deputy.

Mujey is Managing Director of WAMCO and Kokky is one of higher ranking officials at Maziya, the most decorated football club in Maldives. Kokky has also been a deputy official at FAM during Bassam Adeel Jaleel's administration.

Tom has also nominated prolific goalkeeper Imran Mohamed and well-known player of the past Mohamed Umair for executive committee positions. Imran, Umair and Tom were playing for the national team when they won the 2008 SAFF Championship.

He also nominated T.C. Sports Chairman Ahmed Abbas, Ali Rizwan of B.G. Sports, Abdulla Naasih of Odi Sports, Hawwa Nasra Saeed and Hawwa Rasheed. Nasra and Hawwa were nominated by Tom as part of the new constitutional guidelines where there are now two posts to be held by women.

The FAM election is to be overseen by the FIFA-appointed Normalization Committee. The committee was formed to bring order to the FAM after former FAM President Bassam Adeel Jaleel was suspended on corruption charges.

While Tom ran for the post of FAM President twice last year, the election was put to a halt as per FIFA's orders. This was due to issues in the procedural process of the election.

Tom hopes that there won't be any issues in this years election and pledges to bring the FAM out of the challenges that they're currently facing.

Tom said the FAM had lost public confidence due to the financial problems and hoped things would be resolved as soon as possible. He said the support of all clubs is a driving motivation and force to move forward and everyone is ready to revive Maldivian football with the same determination.
