Ahmed Aagil (Ammade) has claimed his third title at the Muli stop of the National Surf League, edging out last year’s winner Ismail Smiley Rasheed in a closely contested final.
Ammade scored 12.07 in the final heat—just 0.74 points ahead of Smiley, who posted 11.33. Ammade previously won in Muli in 2022 and 2023 but was eliminated in the quarter-finals last year.
In the semi-finals, Ammade defeated Kayan Kaiputi Arif with 10.50 points, while Smiley beat Sayyid Salahuddin with a total of 13.83. Sayyid had earlier knocked out reigning league champion Hood Hubz Ahmed in the quarter-finals.
The Maldives Surfing Association (MSA) will hold two more league events this year: the new Kerandhoo Challenge at L. Maabaidhoo’s Machine surf break in September, followed by the Rannamari Challenge at Raalhugandu in Malé.
League winners will be determined based on the combined scores of their two best performances across the three tournaments—adding weight to every wave caught in this year’s fierce national competition.
