FAM President Ahmed Thoriq (Tom) has stated that competitive matches will be drawn up for the youth national team after having the proper discussions with the appropriate technical individuals.

The Dhivehi Youth League that took place last year with collaborative efforts from FAM and Maldives Soccer Mates was part of an initiative towards football development in Maldives. The next goal is to set up inter school football competitions that were cancelled in the last two years. A Youth Championship with various age groups will also be put into place each year.

The previous inter school competitions were rushed to an early end. The Youth Championship is known to be a short competition. Last year's Dhivehi Youth League saw three age groups play a one-round league.

Thoriq has stated that it is important they come up with ways for under-19 players and under-16 players to compete in matches.

"The under-16, under-17 and under-19 age groups are of great importance, with youth teams also being present in the First Division. And so, it (Youth League) is an important task that must move forward," said Thoriq.

He has stated that inter school competitions will commence after having the proper discussions with the appropriate technical individuals.

"We will leave it up to the technical professionals as to whether a Youth League should be played or an inter school competition should be implemented."

FAM has announced for clubs to name candidates for various FAM committees. The deadline for naming candidates is set to 2pm today. A technical and development committee are included in the list of committees.
