Yasin and Yusuf Kayan end their tournament run in the quarter-finals

Yasin Ahmed Nasheed and Yusuf Kayan Hamdan Zaki (Kai Zaki) have ended their tournament run in the quarter-finals of the Asian Surfing Championship. They were both competing in the Men's Junior Category.

Yasin Ahmed Nasheed and Yusuf Kayan Hamdan Zaki (Kai Zaki) have ended their tournament run in the quarter-finals of the Asian Surfing Championship. They were both competing in the Men's Junior Category.

The two Maldivian surfers have made it the furthest among their peers. Men's Junior Category contestant Kayan Abdulla Areef (Kaiputty) saw an end to his run in the second round.

Ismail Rasheed (Smiley), Ahmed Agil (Ammadey) and Hood Ahmed (Hoobz) saw their tournament run end in the third round of the Men's Open Category, with Women's Open Category contestants Rishtha Shuja, Mariyam Rahil Naseem (Aya) and Shaziya Saeed (Saazu) seeing their tournament run come to an end in the second round.

Yasin's run ended with him placing third in Heat 3 of the quarter-final, as contestants who place first and second will be able to proceed to the semi-finals. Yasin scored 7.43 points, with fourth place being claimed by India's Harish P with 6.80 points. Second was claimed by China's Laihao Zhang, scoring 10.07 and first place was claimed by South Korea's Kanoa Heejae, scoring 14.33 points.

Yusuf Kayan competed in Heat 1 of the quarter-finals, placing fourth with 8.23 points. Third place was claimed by Chinese Taipei's Ming-Jang Liu with a score of 8.90. Second place was claimed by China's Shidong Wu with a score of 13.27. First place was claimed by Chinese Taipei's Chia-Chi Yu with a score of 13.40.

In the Men's Open Category, Smiley competed in Heat 2 of round three, placing fourth with a score of 3.44. Chinese Taipei's John John Chan claimed third with a score of 5.00, with second place being claimed by India's Ramesh Budihal with a score of 11.00. First place was claimed by Indonesia's Mega Artana with a score of 12.50.

Hoobz placed third in Heat 4, with a score of 8.83. Fourth place was claimed by Lebanon's Ryan Hakawati with a score of 3.30. Second was claimed by Indonesia's Dhany Widianto with a score of 11.34, while first was claimed by China's Shidong Wu with a score of 14.50.

Ammadey placed third in Heat 6 with a score of 8.93. Fourth was claimed by Singapore's Julien Spaccarotella with a score of 4.77. Second was claimed by China's Liu Chen with a score of 9.00, with first being claimed by Philippines' Eduardo Alciso with a score of 10.54.
