It is being said that Super United Sports (SUS) may be fined MVR 200,000 for withdrawing from the Dhivehi Premier League (DPL).

SUS has informed FAM that a deal was made with New Radiant for SUS to withdraw from the league, giving their spot to New Radiant.

DPL's new guidelines state that if a team were to withdraw before the start of the season, the team would receive a fine of MVR 200,000. The team will also be relegated to the Second Division of their regional league.

Even though SUS made a deal with New Radiant, SUS's board had passed a resolution along with sending a letter to FAM, stating that their reason for withdrawal was due to "unforeseen financial challenges."

"It is with great sadness that we announce our withdrawal from the DPL due to unforeseen financial challenges, along with the challenges of forming a competitive team. We realize the importance of having a competitive team and being a financially stable team. Even though this is a tough decision, this is what needs to be done to ensure the future of the club," as was said in the resolution that passed.

In their letter to FAM, they have stated that they will ready themselves to play in the upcoming season in the Second Division.

"In order to facilitate the payment of debts and to stabilize our financial situation, we will ready ourselves to compete in the 2025-2026 season in the Second Division to build up our team," as was said in the letter to FAM signed by SUS President Ismail Athif.

"We at the club hope that FAM offers their cooperation and assistance as we work towards participating in the Second Division, along with guidance for completing formal procedures and the proper registration in the participation of the Second Division."
