Yesterday's Dhiraagu Maldives Junior Open 2025 came to an end and saw Nibal Ahmed and Aminath Nabeeha (Nabee) crowned champions in the Badminton Open Singles category.
Nibal was crowned champion in the Men's Open category after his two-set win against Zayan Zaki with scores of 21-19 and 21-13. Third place in the Men's Singles category was claimed by Hassan Zayan Mohamed and Haisham Ibrahim Ali.
Nabee was crowned champion in the Women's Singles category after her win against Fathimath Nabaaha (Nabaa). Nabee led the first set with a 10-4 score, with Nabaa suffering an injury as the match went on. Third place was claimed by Shuba Mohamed Shareef.

The Women's Doubles category was won by Nabaa and Nabee. The pair claimed the crown after defeating Philippine contestants Marecris Misty Achuhido and Roseline Kayaon Wahid in a 21-6 and 21-10 scoreline.
The Men's Doubles category was won by Maldives' Ahmed Thoif Mohamed and Bangladesh's Riza Mohamed. They beat Maldives' Mohamed Ajfaan Rasheed and Philippines' Kyle Adriel Bacilio with a 24-22 and 21-14 scoreline.
Six other countries besides Maldives participated in this tournament. The tournament came together through the efforts of former Minister of Sports Ahmed Mahloof, The Badminton Club and the Badminton Association of Maldives (BAM).
The event was held in the Ekuveni Indoor Badminton Court and also took into account the Para/Special Olympic category. A total of 347 contestants took part in 29 events. Including the open category, contestants aged below 9, 11, 13, 15, 17 and 19 took part in events as well. The closing ceremony was led by President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.
