Maldivian swimmers shine at Asian Open School Championship in Thailand

The championship, which ran from Saturday to Tuesday, featured a total of 41 swimmers from New Lagoon.

Looth Mohamed Hussain and Ibrahim Ma'adh Sajidh have made the Maldives proud by winning multiple gold medals at the Asian Open School Invitational Shortcourse Championship, held at the Arctic Center, Assumption University in Bangkok, Thailand.

Representing New Lagoon Swimming Club, both Looth and Ma’adh secured five gold medals each, helping their team finish third overall in the tournament.

Looth, competing in the Under-16 category, won four gold medals in individual events and added a fifth gold as part of New Lagoon’s relay team.

Ma’adh, competing in the Under-18 category, also secured four individual gold medals, with his fifth gold coming from the relay event.

The championship, which ran from Saturday to Tuesday, featured a total of 41 swimmers from New Lagoon. Collectively, the club’s swimmers earned:

  •  11 Gold medals (Individual)
  • 7 Silver medals
  • 17 Bronze medals

Including relay events, New Lagoon won a total of 37 medals, with 1 gold and 1 bronze added from team events.
