Maziya beats New Radiant

Maziya has claimed the top spot in the FAM Women's League after beating New Radiant 3-nil.

During the game held yesterday evening at Henveiru Stadium, Maziya's Nepalese national team forward Rekha Poudel scored all three goals.

In the first half of the game, Nepalese midfielder Dipa Shahi sent a high ball from their half, with Rekha claiming the ball and sprinting into the penalty box and scoring the first goal in the sixth minute. She proceeded to score her second goal in the fifth minute of the second half after receiving a cross from Dipa.

The third and final goal was scored during extra time with a penalty. The penalty was awarded due to New Radiant defender Hawwa Haneef incurring a foul.

This is the fifth hattrick that has been seen in the FAM Women's League as of yet, with this being Rekha's first hattrick. In the first match of the league, Victory's Uzbekistan player Leyla Rustullaeva scored four goals against TC, with Odi Sports captain Fathimath Saliya scoring hattricks in their second and third games. She scored four goals against TC, with another four goals scored against Bis Buru Sports. Maziya's Dipa also scored five goals against Bis Buru during their match on Thursday.

Rekha and Saliya are first in the league's top scorer list, with both of them having scored seven goals each.

This is the first time New Radiant has lost in the league, with Maziya and Odi Sports without a loss in the league with a winning streak.

With this win, Maziya has gained 10 points in four matches, claiming first in the league. Odi Sports sits at second with seven points in three matches. Victory sits at third with five points in three matches.

New Radiant is in fourth place, with five points from four matches. Bis Buru Sports and TC have not won a point in the three matches they have played.

This evening will see TC and Bis Buru play against each other, with Odi and Victory playing against each other tomorrow evening.
