Club Green Streets has denied the allegations that they had abandoned their match intentionally.
"The club denies all accusations that we intentionally abandoned the match. These accusations have no basis nor proof," as was written in Green Streets' statement that was released last night.
"We humbly request the media and the public not to spread such rumors until the FAM investigates the matter and comes to a decision."
Green Streets also said that they have always abided by Dhivehi club football rules, and that they always act in the interest of the sport, the players and the football community.
As the players of Green Streets did not show up for their match yesterday evening against New Radiant, FAM had made the decision to give New Radiant a 2-0 win.
FAM had also shared the starting 11 of both teams to the media prior to the match. Even though there were a few players on the field with Green Streets coach Ali Nisthaar Mohamed, the number of players required to proceed with the match did not arrive.
If New Radiant had won their match against Green Streets with a five-goal difference, Green Streets would have fallen to 9th place and been relegated, with 9th place Valencia earning a slot in the relegation playoffs.
Valencia accused Green Streets of match-fixing in a statement that was released yesterday. Valencia and Green Streets have been known to miss matches and not play in certain stages of the league.
Both teams had opted out of playing in the second round of the 2023 Dhivehi Premier League.
