Champion Maziya has won the Dhiraagu Dhivehi Premier League, winning against Odi Sports in their final match.
Maziya won last night's match at the National Stadium with a score of 1-nil.
Two weeks ago, Odi Sports' point loss sealed Maziya's league victory.
Maziya struck early last night as Ahmed Aiham (Fatho) and Sergio Mendigutxia combined. Sergio passed to Aiham outside Odi's area, who controlled and returned the ball. Sergio then fired from the edge of the box straight into the goal.
Maziya claimed the title unbeaten, earning 47 points from 18 matches, three of which ended in draws.
With this win, Maziya now holds the record for most league titles in Maldives and stands as the most successful team since the Dhivehi Premier League began in 2015.
This is Maziya's fifth consecutive year as Champions of Dhivehi Premier League, and their sixth win in total.
With this win, Maziya now matches New Radiant's league record. New Radiant claimed the Dhivehi League, introduced in 2000, four times, and later won twice after its relaunch as the Dhivehi Premier League.
In a post-match interview with PSM, Maziya Coach Luisma Hernandez said that the second round of the league was very competitive, and acknowledged the deserving efforts of rival teams.
Aiham was crowned Man of the Match.
Next up for Maziya is the President's Cup. Maziya also won the Charity Shield in the season opening match last September.
