Villimale' United beat four-time champion and claim cup

Villimale' United (VU) has beaten the four-time champion Hulhumale' Veterans Club (HVC) and claimed the 2026 Veterans Cup. VU made it to the finals undefeated and won the deciding game 1-0.

Villimale' United (VU) has beaten the four-time champion Hulhumale' Veterans Club (HVC) and claimed the 2026 Veterans Cup.

VU made it to the finals undefeated and won the deciding game 1-0.

The goal was scored by Player of the Match Hussain Rasheed and was assisted by Farhad Ismail (Farey).

Ten teams participated in the tournament, with Hassan Solah (Hattey) being chosen as the best player. HVC's Hussain Simaz (Kokky) scored the most goals throughout the competition, having scored eight times.

The teams were split into two groups, with VU, Da Grande, Muiveyo Friends Club, Dhivehi Sifainge Club and New Radiant Sports Club in Group A and HVC, United Victory, Hurriyya Sports Club (Huraa), Buru Sports Club and Police Club in Group B.

VU advanced to the finals after beating the Police Club 2-1. HVC had beaten New Radiant with a score of 3-1 to advance to the finals.

The Veterans Cup is an yearly tournament held during Ramadan for players who have retired from the game, with the Football Association of Maldives (FAM) having organized this event for the first time in 15 years. In that time, the Soccer Veterans Association of Maldives, Maldives Soccer Mates (MSM) and Club Events had worked together with FAM to organize the tournament.
