Eid al-Fitr Celebrations
Eid al-Fitr, the Islamic festival to celebrate the end of the holy fasting month of Ramadan, dawned bleak and rainy across the Maldives, but that did not deter the faithful from flocking to the mosques early on June 4 for the special Eid prayer and sermon, or the other celebrations such as a colourful cultural parade later in the day.
